Abdul and Alexis' Wedding Feature on Ashley's Bride Guide

Abdul and Alexis' Wedding Feature on Ashley's Bride Guide

As many of you know, we got started down the path of wedding work when we discovered the addictive power of planning my (Alexis) wedding late last year. Well, for those of you wondering just how that first trial went, our wedding is currently being featured on two wedding blogs!!  Ashley of Ashley’s Bride Guide  as well as Amy from Williamson County Weddings and CJs off the Square both wrote articles on our wedding this week (I know- how loved are we?!)! So, once again thanks to everyone who chipped in to make our wedding so great! I’m sure that Laura’s upcoming wedding will be even more of a triumph!  So check out our features at Wilcowed Blogspot and Ashley’s Daily Scoop! And a big thanks to Ashley for putting us up on her blog! Yay!

The Artists at Adornments

New!  We’ve added more artists to the Adornments website- they are all amazing local (and semi-local) artists who create beautiful one-of-a-kind works of art!  We have artists who work in all of the following categories:  Jewelry, Bead-work, Weaving, Painting, Drawing, Pottery, Wood Turning, and we will soon be welcoming a metal sculptor (we’ll let you know when his work arrives)!

Photo Love!

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

Earlier this week, a good friend of ours came over to our shop to shoot (yes, with cameras!) our jewelry all professional-like! Zach and Jody Gray of Gray Photography did my (Alexis) wedding and have since taken us under their wing to help us get our business off the ground.  They are pretty much the epitome of wedding photographers!! So when Zach offered to come and take some amazing pics of our stuff, we jumped on the chance- not only to spend some time with our favorite photographers, but.. well, the results are stunning (to use one of Zach’s favorite words)!  The did an excellent job setting up and lighting our stuff for these pics. In addition, we have the honor of being given the spotlight on Gray Photography’s Blog! They’re so sweet! So if you haven’t already, check out their site!! They are a trip to follow (no! I don’t blog stalk..never! :) )

So here it is, the moment you’ve been waiting for! A sneak preview to the results of the photoshoot!!

For those of you who read the Dolphin earrings post that Laura put up, the above pictue is an example of what she’s talking about with the resin.  All of those darkish, multi-colored spaces in the pendant were filled with colored resin.

These two are works of mine.

And for you photo buffs, here’s the setup we used to get these awesome pictures! Yes.. there was lots of blue tape and random books used to achieve these results. You have to have plenty of random stuff laying around for a proper photo shoot ya know!

And here we are!! No good photo shoot is complete without a shot of  everyone together at the end!! :)

Woo hoo!

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

For our first ever blog to the world, we’d like to introduce ourselves! We are Adornments (by we, I mean Lucinda Harshey, Alexis Anbari, and Laura Lempke); we are three recent immigrants to the South (we got here as fast as we could!) from Indiana. We came here with the express purpose of starting Adornments- a jewelry and fine art studio/gallery- and I’m proud to report that we have succeeded in doing just that! We opened for the first time on a dark and stormy December day in 2008 and have been spreading one-of-a-kind beautiful pieces of art all across the nation ever since! :) Thinking our task was well under way, we were surprised and delighted to hear a cry for help from the wedding community begging for dazzling custom-made, unique wedding jewelry and exquisite hand-made invitations! We are hastening to fulfill the wishes of every bride who dreams of her very own one-of-a-kind bridal set, or the perfect gifts for her attendants, mother or groom, even (he needs cufflinks, right? How about a tie pin?) Whether it be diamonds and pearls, or delicate chainwork, we have the skills to make that dream come true! We will make sure that everyone remembers YOUR invitations as the most beautiful and unique that have ever been seen (yes, they’re very nice ;) )!

The purpose of this blog will be to let people know what we’re up to- what marvelous new projects we’re working on- how crazy Alexis has gotten with her wirework, what new designs Lucinda has for her invitations, and whether Laura is covered in paint or silver dust on any given day (it’s always something with that one). Over the course of the next several months, there will be posts from each of these ladies talking about whatever they’re working on, the trials and tribulations of life in the art and wedding business. Please, feel free to comment (good or bad)- we’d love to know what you’re interested in knowing more about and would be happy to answer any questions you have. Check back for regular installments of Adornments Watch! Thank you!
